The first organ at Trinity was installed and put into service December 2, 1893 and was used for 42 years until it was replaced in February of 1937.
Forty years later, on August 27, 1979, due to maintenance problems and equipment damage, the organ was replaced with a new Austin pipe organ costing approximately $118,000. The remodeling of the organ chambers began on June 10th of that year, which necessitated using the dining room for services for the next two Sundays. The air chests and pipes were installed in the remodeled chambers with the last pipe being installed on November 5. The formal dedication of the organ was held during the 10:30 service on November 18th with an excellent presentation of special music by our organists and choirs.
The organ is estimated today to have a replacement cost of $250,000.
